LESSONS

Having lived in Morton for my entire life and given lessons for 45 years, I can provide many references.  I teach in my home Monday through Thursday and would be happy to talk with you about lessons and available openings.  Please call me at 309-202-5451 or e-mail me at bachnrol@gmail.com with any questions you may have.

 

Piano lessons are personalized to the student, whether young beginner or young at heart.  We learn to read music, study music theory, work on sight reading, ear training and harmonization.  There are different styles of music--classical, popular, sacred, jazz, to name a few--and I would like to help you play what you enjoy. 

 

We will meet once weekly for 30 minutes in my home, with most lessons scheduled after school, although I am available to adult students and home-schooled children during the day.  This is a year-round studio because I believe it's beneficial to study during the summer to keep the momentum going.  With no backtracking as fall semester begins, progress is made more quickly, which is more enjoyable for the student.  I want to be serious about piano lessons, but have fun while we learn.

 

A recent addition to piano lessons is the iPad.  There are so many apps available to reinforce music concepts, enhance lessons and practice time that we learn and review through games and other activities.  Some favorites are Piano Maestro, Flash Note Derby, and Noteflight.  Technology can help students practice more efficiently and assist them in becoming independent musicians.

 

Most importantly, lessons are structured so students enjoy making music!
